About MedSideInfo

Effective: May 2, 2026·Last updated: May 3, 2026·Version v1.3

Mission

We help families have better conversations with their doctors. Information, not medical advice.

Why we built this

Anyone caring for a family member's medication knows the routine: a new prescription arrives, a question forms (“is this normal? is this serious?”), and the next hour is spent stitching together answers from a dozen reference sites that all phrase things differently. We built MedSideInfo because that hour should not be the user's job.

Draft. The canonical origin story (Aruna's caregiver-research practice and the antidepressant trigger that led to this product) is pending review and the relevant family member's permission to be named.

Founders

Arun Mandhania

Co-founder · CEO · Engineering

Builder of the platform: pipeline, infrastructure, deployments. Thirty-plus years in software.

Aruna Mandhania

Co-founder · Product

Caregiver-researcher with three decades of practice translating clinical reference material for families. Voice of safety restraint on every product decision.

Clinical advisors

Clinical advisors will be listed here as they confirm permission to be named publicly.

Scope of advice. Clinical advisors, when listed, advise MedSideInfo on defined topics — typically source-tier classification, the safety posture of our methodology, and editorial review of the trust pages (Methodology, Sources, About). They do not review individual medicine listings, do not approve any specific result we display, and do not assume responsibility for the accuracy of any particular side-effect entry. Listing an advisor here is not an endorsement of any specific medicine page.

What we do — and don't

We aggregate side-effect information from publicly-available medical reference sources, ground every effect in a verbatim quote from a real source page, and present the result so you can take it to your doctor.

We do not provide medical advice, diagnose conditions, recommend treatments, or rank medicines. Read the full safety posture in our methodology.

Built with

MedSideInfo is built during the TinyFish Accelerator, spring 2026. The services and reference sources below are the ones we actually use in production today. Adding or removing any of these is kept in sync with the third-party-processor list in our Privacy Policy.

AI, Voice & Vision
High-performance LLM inference powering every AI step: side-effect extraction (Mixtral-8x22b), cross-source normalization and deduplication, and leaflet vision OCR (Kimi K2.5).
Speech-to-text for multilingual voice input, text-to-speech for read-aloud.
Embedding models for semantic medicine-name resolution (e.g., mapping brand names and misspellings to canonical generics).
Data & Discovery
Web page scraping (Fetch API) and Google search (Search API) for discovering medical sources.
U.S. FDA drug enforcement (recall) data — free public API.
Infrastructure
Backend-as-a-Service: Postgres, auth, storage.
Hosting, serverless functions, cron, ISR for medicine pages.
Real-time observability and alerting on API logs — error-rate, LLM cost, and silent-provider-outage monitors.
Server + client + edge error tracking with source-map-mapped stack traces.
Transactional email delivery (verification, password reset, feedback).
Accessible React component primitives used across the UI (buttons, cards, dialogs, badges).
Medical Reference Sources
Common medical reference websites whose publicly-available side-effect information is aggregated and compared. Links to the original source page are preserved for every effect we display. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these publishers — see Sources for the full non-affiliation disclosure.
Pharmacy Leaflets (user-contributed)
Patient package inserts scanned by users and shared with the community. Personal information is stripped during extraction; only clinical content is retained.
