Terms of Service

Effective: May 2, 2026·Last updated: May 2, 2026·Version v1.0

Information, not medical advice. MedSideInfo aggregates publicly-available side-effect information from medical reference sources. It is for educational reference only. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider with questions about your medications.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using MedSideInfo (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

MedSideInfo provides aggregated, source-cited side-effect information for medicines, drawn from publicly-published medical reference sites (Mayo Clinic, NIH, MedlinePlus, FDA, NHS, Drugs.com, Cleveland Clinic, and similar). Every effect we display is paired with a verbatim quote from a source page and a link to that page.

The Service is for educational purposes only. It is not medical advice. It is not a diagnostic tool. It is not a substitute for talking to a doctor. We do not tell you what to do with a medication; we help you ask better questions of the people who can.

3. Your account

  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
  • You agree to provide accurate information when signing up (e.g. a real email address you control).
  • You agree to enter accurate medicine names. Mistyping a medicine name will return information about a different drug.
  • You may delete your account at any time. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data after deletion.

4. Medical disclaimer (repeated)

The Service does not provide medical advice. The information we display is gathered from third-party medical reference sources. We make no representations or warranties about its accuracy, completeness, or suitability for any particular medication, condition, or person.

Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read on MedSideInfo. If you think you may be having a medical emergency, call your doctor or your local emergency services immediately.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use automated tools (scrapers, bots) to harvest data from the Service for resale or redistribution.
  • Resell or redistribute the Service or its content.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, models, or prompts behind the Service.
  • Submit content (e.g. via the feedback form or document scans) that is illegal, harassing, or infringes someone else's rights.
  • Use the Service in a way that disrupts or degrades it for other users.

6. Intellectual property

  • We own the platform: the code, the design, the prompts, the taxonomies, and any aggregated/normalized output we produce.
  • You own your account data: the medicines you save to your cabinet, the documents you upload, the feedback you send. You grant us a license to use this data only as necessary to operate the Service for you (and aggregated/de-identified to improve the Service for everyone).
  • The third-party medical sources we link to are owned by their respective publishers. We display short verbatim quotes from them for reference under fair use; we do not copy or redistribute their content beyond that.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MedSideInfo and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Service. This includes — and we want to be explicit about this — any decision you make about a medication based on information you read on the Service.

If liability is found despite this limitation, total cumulative liability will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US$50.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, misuse the Service, or expose us or other users to legal risk.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms over time. If we make material changes, we will (1) update the "Last updated" date at the top, (2) bump the version number, and (3) email signed-in users at the address on file. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

Any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, except to the extent that mandatory consumer-protection laws of your jurisdiction provide otherwise.
